Cold Storage

Founded in 1969 in Padova, FRAL Srl has spent over five decades engineering and manufacturing dehumidifiers, ventilation systems and portable conditioners. While larger competitors diluted their focus, FRAL stayed narrow — and became the European specialist that demanding sectors call when they need a unit that simply works.

How to choose

Refrigerant or desiccant? It depends on temperature.

Most ambient-temperature applications need a refrigerant unit. The moment your air goes below ~5°C or you need single-digit RH, you need a desiccant absorption machine. Here's the engineering bottom line.

Method · Mechanical refrigeration

Refrigerant condensing dehumidifiers.

The dominant approach. Air is drawn over a cold evaporator coil; moisture condenses to water and drains away. Re-warmed dry air returns to the room. Same physics as your air conditioner.

Method · Desiccant absorption

Rotor desiccant dehumidifiers.

A slowly-rotating silica/zeolite wheel absorbs moisture from the process airstream, then releases it into a smaller, hotter regeneration airstream that exhausts outside. No phase change, no condensate.
